Personal Rights

I know how hard it is to say no and protect our time when we are often put into situations that we can’t say no. It seems the busier we get with our lives the more pressure that gets put on us.

The course I am doing over this year is helping me to understand how important it is to allow my clients the choices to respond in different ways. One of the recommendations from the course is to use the bill of personal rights…or develop something similar to this. In our New Zealand Health system, we use the code of rights so I am pretty familiar with that. This enables consumers of healthcare in New Zealand to get fair treatment. You will often see these signs on walls in healthcare facilities that you use. I have decided to include what the personal rights checklist might look like if you were to use it yourself. Read below to understand how important your rights are.

It’s okay to stand up for my rights, provided I respect the rights of others as I do so; they have the same rights as I do.

Ø I have the right to be treated fairly and respectfully.

ØI have the right to make my needs equally important to those of others.

Ø I have the right to decline requests, in a way that is fair and respectful.

Ø I have the right to be fallible, imperfect, and make mistakes.

Ø I have the right to ask for what I want, in a way that is fair and respectful.

Ø I have the right to honestly state my thoughts, feelings, ideas and opinions, in a way that is fair and respectful.

I have the right to honestly state my thoughts, feelings, ideas and opinions, in a way that is fair and respectful. Is one that I felt was extremely important so if you are in any way feeling like you are not able to honestly state your thoughts, feelings, ideas and opinions then have a think why? Maybe you can practice to share your opinions more often.

If you struggle with anything mentioned in this list then please get in touch and book a clarity call so that I can help you in a kind and compassion way.
